Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Goal Zero 20 amp PWM solar charge controller. Now, this 20 amp solar controller with the PWM technology, which stands for pulse width modulation, this will regulate your solar panel output, provide consistent amperage to your batteries. This is designed to work with the gel, the AGM, the calcium, flooded lead acid, LTO, and the lithium iron phosphate batteries. Now, it does come with everything shown here.
Comes with the solar charge controller. We have connected the cord to it. It comes with this three foot long spade to HPP cord, which is a high power port. And this is what will connect the controller to the solar panel. And it comes with this nice user's guide.
Now, it will require a cord to attach from this side of the controller to your batteries. So, to connect and charge a 12 volt battery, you must purchase the spade to SAE cable, which we sell separately. It's part number GZ27MR. And then after that's attached, you need either the SAE to ring terminal, part number GZ59MR, or the SAE to alligator clips. You pick either one of those, depending on how you wanna attach it to your battery.
And the alligator clips part is GZ39MR. And again, all of those we do sell separately on our website and they're usually listed on this product page as a related product. Now, this 20 amp charge controller is recommended for solar charging with more than 100 watts. This will protect your battery from harmful overcharging. And it uses automatic multi-stage charging that switches the modes to extend battery life.
Does offer safe, offer safety features, which will protect against overcharging, undercharging, reverse polarity, short circuit, and over voltage. Has a nice LCD digital display here and LED lights right down here that'll monitor your amperage, voltage, and battery capacity. This is IP65 rated construction, so it is weather resistant and dustproof. As we mentioned, it does include this connector right here. Few specs on this, the application is for 12 volt battery systems. The maximum solar array current is 20 amps. The normal input solar array voltage is 15 to 22 volts. The maximum solar array voltage on this is 25 volts. Operating temperature for this is a -13 degrees Fahrenheit up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. We mentioned the length on this cable is three feet. Last thing I wanna give you is the dimensions on this. And the weight of this unit is only about one, just over one pound, about 1.1 pounds. The width on this, if we measure side to side, is right at 6 1/8 inches wide. The overall height on this is gonna be right at about 3 7/8 inches tall. And the depth is only about one inch deep. But that should do it for the review on this Goal Zero 20 amp PWM solar charge controller..
